“After the bell”是什么意思? 如何理解其中的bell?

如果你是证券投资者，你可能经常会在财经类的英文网站上注意到这么一个有意思的表达：after the bell，例如下面这条新闻：Box reported its second quarter fiscal 2017 earnings after the bell on Wednesday. （周三的after the bell时候，Box公布了其2017财年2季度营收情况）那么after the bell是什么意思呢？

其实，after the bell是指“收盘后”，也就是交易所结束当天股票交易后。这里的bell，是指交易所的收市铃声。对应的，before the bell，则是指“开盘前”，指当天股票交易正式开始前。那么前面那条新闻的意思就很明了了，Box是在周三收盘后公布了相关数据。
